Saturday Jan 04, 2020
In the first episode of Mental Theatre of 2020 and the decade, Mike and Josh discuss their impressions after watching Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker twice. How did you feel about the film? Mike believes there was too much fan service and plot devices that took away from the overall film. Josh thinks Disney failed the Star Wars brand, fans and JJ Abrams specifically by not organizing a vision like they did with Marvel. Massive spoiler alerts, obviously. The boys always debate controversial continuity issues that have divided the fan base. With all the resources put into The Mandalorian series, Disney wanted these properties to be released around the same time. Were you disappointed with how the film felt rush? Do you feel it was fair to JJ Abrams? How did you feel about the plot? Kylo Ren and Rey seem to have the best story arch out of all the characters. Overall, Mike gave it a C+ and Josh gave it a 7/10 so quite similar. Josh saw the similarities with the Harry Potter series and Mike saw the similarities with Avengers: Endgame. Listen all the way to the end or you may take things out of context. Leave your comments and have them read on the next show. Thanks for listening and happy new year!
